LED stands for Light Emitting Diode. Typically, a semiconductor device converts electricity to light by using the movement of electrons. There are some rectifier circuits that convert direct current (DC) to AC. It was invented in Russia in the 1920s and practical used in the United States by General Electronics in 1960s. The LED light bulbs are different from the traditional bulb. It is much more efficient then incandescent or fluorescent bulbs. It uses less energy from fluorescent light bulb and incandescent also. It is commonly replacing incandescent bulbs in applications where the bulb is viewed--as in stop lights and video displays. As well as, the life spans of LEDs are more than others. They are 300 percent more efficient than a compact fluorescent light (CFL), and 1,000 percent more efficient than an incandescent bulb. They have a very long life, about 50,000 hours of use at 70 percent of their original power. In order for CFL bulbs to supply the same amount of light as the 60-watt incandescent, they are required to use 14 watts. LED light bulbs supply the same amount of light as CFLs and incandescent while only using six watts of electricity. LED light bulbs don't burn out or flicker, they simply fade. The LED Light Bulb doesn’t contain mercury or other toxins. LEDs don’t produce any ultra violet (UV) light and produces less heat. They don’t generate radio frequency wave, thus they don’t interfere with radios or television broadcasts. They are also resistant to vibration and shocks. The initial costs of LEDs are higher than the fluorescent bulbs and incandescent. It is heat sensitive. Thus, if they are not used with a steady and consistent current, they can stop working or fade quickly. Usually, they are best used in directional lighting rather than room lighting. LEDs are used in clocks, watches and as indicator lights in cars. The white LED light bulbs are best used under kitchen, reading lamps, landscape lighting, solar power garden, and walkway lights. The color LED light bulbs mostly used in the traffic signal lamps. LEDs lighting comes in a form of screw-in light bulbs, flash lights, strips or cluster. They are simple to install as other types of lighting. Recently, some companies designed LED light bulbs for general lighting purpose and new energy efficient LED light bulbs are available. The future of household lighting will soon be the wide spread adoption and use of white energy efficient LED Light Bulb . Though the present market for finished white LED products is geared mainly towards enthusiasts and early-adopters, the efficiency and cost effectiveness of LED lighting systems will drive demand for more affordable LED lights. For more growing technologies, in the near future, white LED lighting applications will be powerful and cheap enough to replace incandescent lighting for everyday use in homes, in street lights, outdoor signs, and offices. http://www.energysmartindustry.com/ |
